DirectTV
Credit Card
DirectTV is one of the biggest broadcast satellite service companies in the United States.
It offers the DIRECTV Rewards™ Visa Signature Card, the only credit card that bears the name of the company. Issued
by Barclays, the DirectTV credit card is available even to non-subscribers of DirectTV.
Aside from its zero spending limit, the DirectTV credit card offers an exceptional rewards program that gives the
cardholder the chance to earn points for making purchases and for paying bills through the card. A total of 1000
points is given when a cardholder uses the DirectTV Visa to automatically pay for his/her DirectTV bill. One point
is also given for every dollar spent on everyday purchases such as groceries, etc. Starting at 2000 points,
accumulated points can be exchanged for unique rewards such as electronic equipment, sports equipment, event
tickets, and a lot more. However, the rewards program is only available to DirectTV credit card holders that are
able to maintain a good standing in their accounts.
A DirectTV credit card holder, however, should remember that points are only available within three years after
they are earned. They are neither transferable nor convertible to cash. Also, they cannot be used to pay for bills
owed to the credit card or the issuing bank. Those who wish to earn more points may pay for them ($30 per 1000 to
2000 points) but only two times a year.
Being from Visa, the DirectTV credit card offers the benefits of the Visa Signature brand. First, it can be used
anywhere in the world where Visa is accepted. Second, it features the Visa Signature Concierge Service and the Auto
Rental Collision Damage Waiver for travelling cardholders. Third, the DirectTV credit card offers purchase security
for all purchases against damage or theft.
The Direct TV credit card features a purchase APR of a variable 14.99%. For balance transfers, the APR is also
14.99%. These APRs are cancelled for the first six billing cycles as an introductory promotion. However, for cash
advances, the APR is a minimum of 19.99%. When a cardholder misses a payment, a default APR of 27.24% may be
imposed. The transaction fee for balance transfers is $5 or 3% of the amount, whichever is greater. The case is the
same for cash advances. When used for foreign transactions, the DirectTV credit card will charge a 3% foreign
conversion fee. Penalty fees for the card include a late payment fee of $39, an over the limit fee of $39, and a
returned check fee of $29. The DirectTV credit card also gives a grace period of 20 days to those who pay their
bills in full and on time.
To be eligible for the DirectTV credit card, one needs at least a fair credit rating.
